bsport alternative: REQUR vs bsport compared
bsport is an international platform for boutique studios: yoga, pilates, reformer, barre, indoor cycling, dance, boxing and bootcamp. The package covers bookings, memberships, payments, a member app and a marketing suite with AI campaigns, churn scores and revenue forecasts. More than 3,500 studios run on it worldwide, including in the Netherlands.
What makes owners look around is the structure around it. bsport sells four tiers, Start, Build, Engage and Elevate, plus a separate Scale tier for chains and franchises, publishes no rates and works with a contract. In this article we put REQUR and bsport side by side on the points that decide your monthly bill: the price, what sits in which tier, the transaction fees and how you get out again.
In short
- bsport has four tiers and publishes no prices; you book a demo and receive a quote. REQUR costs €39.99 a month with everything included.
- At bsport the app in your own branding only starts at the Engage tier, the third of four. At REQUR it is part of the standard plan.
- bsport has no free version, but a free initial period at the start of your contract. At REQUR you try 30 days for free and can cancel every month afterwards.
- bsport publishes no transaction fees. At REQUR you pay €0.20 per iDEAL payment and per SEPA direct debit, €0.07 per card transaction and €0.20 per failed direct debit.
- bsport is stronger in marketing automation, REQUR in Dutch back office work with a POS, card terminal and accounting integration.
Price: four tiers versus one amount
bsport sells four tiers. Start is the base to run your studio, Build adds integrations and on-demand classes, Engage brings the app in your own branding and the community features, and Elevate puts the advanced marketing tools on top of that. Run several sites or a franchise and you end up in Scale, with a price tailored to you.
What those tiers cost is not on the site. bsport writes that its pricing is straightforward and that you book a demo for a quote tailored to your business. New studios also get a lower starting rate that later moves to the standard rate. That can work out fine, but you cannot lay it next to another supplier in advance, and you want to know exactly what happens to your bill once that starting period ends.
REQUR costs €39.99 a month. Everything is in there: member management, scheduling, the app for your members, POS, reporting and support, with unlimited members and unlimited locations. No tier to upgrade later and no quote to request first before you can compare.
The app in your branding sits in a higher tier
At bsport the branded member app is part of Engage, the third tier. So if you want an app with your own name and branding in the App Store and the Play Store, in practice you buy the two tiers below it as well. For a studio that is mainly after that app, this is an expensive route.
At REQUR the app is part of the €39.99 plan, for iOS and Android, in your own branding. Your members book, pay, cancel their spot and receive push notifications, and you also reach them by SMS, WhatsApp and email from the same system.
Transaction fees and failed direct debits
On top of the subscription every system charges per transaction, and that is where it gets murky fast. bsport mentions flexible payment options and fast payouts, but publishes no rate per transaction. So ask explicitly about three things: the percentage over your revenue, the fixed amount per transaction and what a failed direct debit costs.
At REQUR those amounts are on the pricing page: €0.20 per iDEAL payment, €0.20 per SEPA direct debit, €0.07 per card transaction at the front desk and €0.20 per failed direct debit. No percentage over your revenue.
That last item is the one most often forgotten. A failed direct debit, a storno, is a collection that gets reversed, for instance through insufficient funds or because a member has the payment returned. With 200 members and a five percent reversal rate that is ten of them a month, so €2.00 at REQUR. With a supplier that charges a euro or more for it, work out what that does to your margin over a year, and ask as well whether a second collection attempt is charged again.
Contract and trial period
bsport offers no free version. Instead you get a free initial period built into the start of your contract. So you pick a tier and sign first, and try afterwards. Ask in advance about the term, the notice period and what happens if you want out halfway through.
At REQUR you try 30 days for free, with no credit card and no obligation, and after that you can cancel every month. Those 30 days are no marketing number: in a month you go through a full invoicing cycle, including the reversals and renewals that follow it. That is exactly where you notice whether a system suits you.
Marketing suite versus Dutch back office
bsport visibly invests in marketing and data: campaigns you set up with a single prompt, segmentation of your customer base, churn scores, revenue forecasts and pricing recommendations. If you run a boutique studio where acquisition and retention make the difference, that is a serious asset.
REQUR puts the weight on running the business here: SEPA direct debits and invoicing that keep going by themselves, a POS with card terminal at the front desk, AI scheduling, a link to your accounting package and reporting on revenue, occupancy and retention. If you mainly run memberships and group classes, that is the centre of gravity you need.
